Marta

Since moving to Melbourne, from her hometown of Canberra, Marta has collaborated with local Melbourne musicians including Hunters & Collectors front man Mark Seymour and is about to release her debut EP produced by Cameron McKenzie

As a solo artist aswell as playing with her full band, Marta has played the Victorian live circuit scene for 5 years before she now sets her sights on the Canadian Market in June 08 . Marta Pacek's sound is reminiscent of the 60’s San Francisco scene when poetry was rampant. Her music is narrative and thought provoking, and Marta admittedly uses her songs to express issues often difficult to touch on in everyday encounters with people.

Her tales are dark & often intense, blended with sweet lead guitar picking, Harmonies and Andrea Paradiso’s dramatic but sensitive percussion style.

Marta's voice is versatile often changing to suit her mood at the time of writing & has often been likened to the voices of Stevie Nicks, Natalie Merchant, Eddie Brickell, Ricky Lee Jones & Joni Mitchell.

Marta’s evocative Ballad about leaving home ‘Isabella’ is currently being featured on ABC Radio’s Oz Tracks Site and will soon become part of the ABC Jukebox of all Contemporary Australian Music.

Marta was a semi- Finalist in the 3PBS Festival of Song Competition with the Tracks ‘Loving is Easy’, ‘Café Sunshine’ and ‘Cold night’.

2006 saw Marta Pacek shoot two film-clips with Director Jim Lounsberry for the singles “Loving is Easy and “Café Sunshine” both off her Debut EP “All the Good Ones Have Gone”.

Her songs can be anything from hauntingly reflective to highly infectious folk/ pop songs and are distinct stories of fear, betrayal, discovery, love found and love thrown away. A captivating live show, Marta oozes eccentricities and a uniqueness that is difficult to turn away from.  You’re sure to see her lapping the Festivals and live circuit in 2008 leading up to her Debut EP release.
